ABOUT

Open Count's promise is every number, itemized: a rating decomposes into the pieces that produced it, and the pieces reconcile on screen. The college football and NFL sections rate teams and open each rating into per-game receipts.

The NHL section rates players. A shift-level model isolates each skater from teammates and opponents and prices him in goals above replacement. Every player's count closes exactly. A team page is a composition — measured skaters, team terms, and the gaps the model refuses to paper over, each on a labeled row. When the count cannot close, the page says so.

Start with the player board, read the methodology, or look up a term in the glossary.
